TrainSimLive

Did you know that there is now a dedicated Train Simulator TwitchTV channel? 'TrainSimLive' is run by Matt Peddlesden (formerly of UKTS) and now part of the Dovetail Games team, and there are regular live shows where Matt will drive on routes from all over the world, answering questions throughout each show.

Shows are normally broadcast in the evening and they will return after the Christmas and New Year break on January 4th, it would be great to see people tune in and become involved. While you wait for the return of the live show, the Youtube link below also offers archived videos of each show broadcast so far.

DPSimulation Announcement

EU VAT Legislation

Many of you may have recently read about the upcoming changes to VAT on Electronic Services which takes effect on 1st January 2015. As a small vendor providing electronic content, we have still made no decision on how we will proceed after this date, but a decision must be taken soon.

As you will be aware, we offer scenario packs at a very low price in order to fund site development. Once all hosting, shop fees and Paypal deductions are taken into account, the amount made per pack isn't a large one in the current format, and any additional overheads would leave us with two options, to increase prices in order to cover this shortfall, or to remove the packs from sale completely. Either option has a strong probability of restricting future growth at DPSimulation.

Once a decision has been made, I'll provide an update.

DPSimulation – Repaint Use

Due to the rapid expansion of the DPSimulation website, particularly over the past 12 months, this has seen a massive increase in requests for the use of repaints in payware packs, sometimes numbering 2-3 per week and in particular for repaints created by Richard Fletcher. After discussion with Richard, it has been decided that these requests be discouraged, and no further dialogue will be entered into other than with those that permission was already explicitly given. Likewise, this applies to all repaints created by DPSimulation, requests for repaints by other authors will be passed on to them on a case by case basis.

As Train Simulator becomes more popular and the amount of content increases, many people are now sensing the opportunity to start up a new outfit in order to sell scenarios, often spending time creating these scenarios and using content without permission, only seeking this permission when the pack is ready to be sold. My advice to anyone wishing to sell content is to seek any permission from the outset and certainly before your content is created. Alternatively, if you are wishing to create a successful line of scenario products, either become involved in the repaint process yourself, or bring somebody on board that is willing to do so, don't just assume that freely available content has an allowance of use when you are trying to make money from it.

Early Access

I am no longer accepting submissions for Early Access so if you wish to make a donation in order to help DPSimulation, please don't do this on the condition that you are expecting this access. Despite this non-acceptance, those who currently have access will continue to do so and will see new and updated projects made available in the New Year.

Class 319 Repaint Released

I have now uploaded a new Class 319 repaint to the DPSimulation website courtesy of Richard Fletcher.

In Northern Rail livery, this Class 319 repaint utilises the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 319/325 sound pack but also includes alternative .bin files should you not own this and also includes bespoke destinations. As this EMU is currently not in service and is unbranded, it's possible that the unit will be updated in the future once Northern Rail add this.

New Uploads - Class 52 Mega Livery Pack

I have just uploaded a new set of repaints to the DPSimulation website courtesy of Matthew Wilson and Mungo Design Studios.

First we have the eagerly anticipated Class 52 'Western' mega livery pack. A collaboration between Matthew, Ewan Rutledge and Chris Barnes, this pack features no less than TEN livery variations of the class, showing examples of every operational mainline scheme and many different numbered locos. The config files have been altered so that the train starts with the brakes applied instead of fully off as standard. It also includes custom particles and scripting to give dynamic exhaust that reacts in line with what you are doing with the throttle and works in tandem with the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 52 Pro Sound Pack.

Both the Class 52 locomotive pack from Steam and the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 52 Pro Sound Pack are required for this livery pack to work. Full instructions on installation are provided with the download, care must be taken to follow these instructions precisely.

This pack can be downloaded from the following link.

Second, Mungo Design Studios have produced another Mk3a coach pack, this time in Wrexham & Shropshire Blue/Grey livery, as leased from Cargo-D. This pack requires the AP/Waggonz GEML Class 90 pack, available from Steam.

This pack can be downloaded from the following link.

Downloads Status Update

Thankyou for your patience.

Slam Door Repaints Uploaded

I have now uploaded various new repaints of slam door stock to the DPSimulation website, courtesy of Richard Fletcher.

The first is a Class 427 4VEG in 'Blue Grey Gatwick' livery. Previously available on UKTS but now removed from there, this has now been completely overhauled with an extensively updated livery, new branding and completely reworked cab textures. This repaint requires the Class 423 VEP pack from Steam and is also aliased to the Armstrong Powerhouse 421/422/423 sound pack, it is recommended to own this as well.

There are also three new 'Blue/Grey' livery patches for the Class 421 '4CIG', Class 422 '4BIG' and Class 423 '4VEP'. They all now have a more accurate representation of the livery and more importantly, they also match. All three also have completely reworked cab textures and the Class 422 also has reworked textures in the passenger view. Each of these livery patches will simply overwrite the original textures.

All of these new repaints can be downloaded, as ever, from Richard's page by clicking here.

SP10 - Scenario Pack Released!

I am very pleased to announce the release of my latest scenario pack, SP10.

This scenario pack comprises of six scenarios, all based on the 'West Coast Main Line: Over Shap' route available from Steam. Set in 2014, the pack covers the Class 350 EMU, Class 156 and Class 170 deputising for the Class 185. The scenarios offer varying and challenging operations and give around five hours of further driving on this fantastic route along with varied AI and plenty of interaction with other services to keep you on your toes.

Created using real timetables where appropriate, this scenario pack features the following in order to give an engaging and realistic experience.

Prototypical consists
Prototypical passing AI
Adverse Signals & AI Interaction
Utilises repaints created specifically for this pack

Several repaints recently released on DPSimulation were also created specifically for this pack and as ever, are completely free and standalone from this scenario pack and are available to download now.

Although I appreciated that the requirements list is quite extensive for this pack, this has been done in order to utilise the wide variety of content we now have available, and to provide the best possible experience.

This scenario pack is again priced at only £1.99, a price point which has been chosen to offer excellent value for money in order to help subsidise site costs at the ever expanding DPSimulation website. The pack can be viewed and purchased by following this link, which contains screenshots, a full list of requirements and a full description of each scenario in order to provide you with all the information needed before making a purchase.

This release has also been added to the [DPS-ALL] scenario pack, which allows users to purchase all current available packs in one go, for a lower price.

Class 45 Patch - Now Available

Following the recent release of the Class 45 pack and the subsequent comments about both the shade of blue, the non matching coaching stock and the incorrect numbering, Richard Fletcher has now provided me with a patch to fix this.

This download applies matching blue livery to the loco and coaching stock, plus correct number font and one or two other modifications. An amended auto-number file for the loco provides prototypical numbering for the Class 45/1 fleet.

This patch is available now from the following link.

GEML Class 90 - First Scotrail Repaint

I have now uploaded another repaint to the DPSimulation website courtesy of Richard Fletcher.

Featuring a Class 90 in First Scotrail livery, this repaint requires the GEML Class 90 pack from Steam in order to work. Please note that this repaint is separate from the FSR loco as available with the AP Waggonz Class 90 pack, and has been created from a new texture set with the idea that it is compatible for use with the Steam Workshop.

It can be downloaded, as ever, by following this link.

I have also uploaded a scenario from Richard, based on the Brighton Mainline. This scenario is also currently available on the Steam Workshop but can also be obtained from the following link.
