Intercity Swallow 43038 Repaint - Released

I have just uploaded another new repaint to the DPSimulation website courtesy of Richard Fletcher.

Utilising the recently released Class 43 (Valenta)/Mk3 Enhancement Pack, this pack features 43038 in another variation of Intercity Swallow livery.

Both the European Loco & Asset pack from Steam and the Class 43 (Valenta)/Mk3 Enhancement Pack are required, otherwise this pack will not work.

This pack can be downloaded from the 'Locomotives' section of Richard's page by following this link.

FP06 - East Coast Mainline Scenario Pack Released

This scenario pack comprises of 10 scenarios, based on the 'ECML London to Peterborough' route available from Steam and the York to Peterborough 'Modern' route available from Creative Rail. Set in the final years of the GNER era, the pack covers passenger operations on the route and utilises the HST, Class 91/Mk4 DVT and Class 156. The scenarios offer varying and challenging operations and gives around 10 hours of further driving on these routes along with varied AI and plenty of interaction with other services to keep you on your toes.

As ever, in order to provide the most realistic experience possible, the requirements list for this pack is quite extensive. The readme can be viewed from the download page, or from within the download package itself.

As well as the requirement of the above mentioned Class 377 pack, this repaint is also  set up to utilise the Class 375/377 sound pack from Armstrong Powerhouse. This sound pack is therefore recommended.

New Scenario Pack - Coming Soon

I am pleased to announce an all new upcoming scenario pack from DPSimulation.

Featuring ten scenarios set over two routes, the Creative Rail 'Modern' route from York to Peterborough and ECML: London to Peterborough, the scenario pack is set in the late GNER era and focuses mainly on the Valenta engined HST, although you will get the opportunity to drive a Class 91 and more strangely, a Class 156 from Doncaster to Peterborough!.

Because the scenario is set over two routes, this means that the requirements are very extensive. I have announced the pack as in development today, specifically because a Steam sale is currently running and many of the addons listed below are available at a reduced price. It's also an opportunity to get hold of any freeware repaints in advance of the scenario pack being released.

The pack is now in the later stages of testing and will be released once this testing has been completed.

East Coast Mainline: South - Update Released

Following a report of track directionality and electrification issues at Letchworth Garden City, I have just uploaded a new version of the route to the Steam Workshop which should address these issues.

As I had secretly been working on a further extension to the route over the past few days, this means that the changes I had made are also included and therefore scenery is now complete as far as Baldock. Quick Drive has also been added to this new location.

As with all workshop updates, this should happen automatically for subscribers, however, I have no control over this process. If the route doesn't show up after installation, all I can suggest is to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to the route, I have no control over how the route installs on to your system.

ECML: Letchworth Garden City Extension - Released!

Following a day of ironing out issues with the route and making sure everything works correctly, and then a day of wrestling with the Steam Workshop, I have finally uploaded the ECML: Letchworth Garden City extension.

This route provides a small extension to the ECML: London to Peterborough route and adds additional track and scenery to Letchworth Garden City, the EMU sidings at Letchworth and the new flyover at Hitchin.

This extension was done after a request from a friend to include Letchworth Garden City on the ECML route so I decided to have a crack it it. I have no immediate plans to include further extensions but the usual caveat applies, never say never. In fact, on researching the potential assets needed for other extensions, the requirements chosen below for this extension reflect the possible need for these future assets.

After subscribing and allowing installation of the route via the Steam Workshop, the route will be listed under Quick Drive as '[DPS] East Coast Mainline – South'. A very basic quick drive has been provided with fast line paths to and from Letchworth Garden City. Initially, the grand plan was to add the new paths to a clone of the original ECML quick drive, but doing so (rightly) fails the workshop validation process. If the route doesn't show up after installation, all I can suggest is to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to the route, I have no control over how the route installs on to your system.

Steam Requirements

ECML: London to Peterborough
Liverpool to Manchester
North London Line
South London Network

ECML: Letchworth Garden City Extension - Coming Soon

Coming soon to the Steam Workshop, an extension to the ECML: London to Peterborough route.

This follows a recent request from a good friend to add Letchworth Garden City to the route as a more northerly terminus for the Class 313 as well as adding the new Hitchin flyover.

Although there isn't a concrete plan to go any further with this project, I have spent some time researching possible extensions to Royston, as well as adding scenery to the Hertford Loop. I have therefore studied available assets and chosen the requirements for this extension in anticipation of possible future extensions.

I am hoping to tidy up a few loose ends with the extension over the course of this week before uploading it to the Steam Workshop. Please keep an eye on the blog for any updates.

In the meantime, here are a few screenshots of this upcoming release.

Steam Workshop - 1A15 – 0728 Harrogate to London Kings Cross

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Difficulty: Medium
Length: 65 Minutes Approx
Start Time: 09:25

Warning

This scenario was created for the Steam Workshop to make use the recently released Armstrong Powerhouse Class 43 (Valenta)/Mk3 Enhancement Pack and the Network Southeast Class 313 on the marketplace This allows me to have more realistic suburban services as AI. I have no interest in the emotional discussion of the Armstrong Powerhouse decision to release the EMU and these liveries on Steam that many like to participate in, and also realise many might not own the marketplace version. This scenario is created for those who do.

Despite the addition of the Class 313, we still do not have a Class 317 available for the workshop so these services have either been omitted or replaced by the Class 365. I also realise that the era depicted (1998) means that the Class 365 used has the wrong front end, there is nothing I can do about this. I also realise that the marketplace Class 313 has small NLL branding, again there is nothing I can do about this.

Description

This morning you are in charge of the 07:28 Harrogate to London Kings Cross service using a GNER HST. You will drive the leg from Peterborough to London Kings Cross.

Briefing

Starting at Peterborough, first release your doors to allow passengers to board before awaiting your departure time of 09:26. You will then call at Stevenage and London Kings Cross where you are scheduled to arrive at 10:27. Also, following days of intense rainfall and coupled with the autumn season, there are reports of very poor railhead conditions.

Steam Requirements

East Coast Main Line: London to Peterborough
European Loco & Asset Pack
Class 91 'Intercity' Pack
Class 313 'London Overground' Pack (Base Requirement For NSE 313)
Class 313 'Network South East' Livery Pack – Marketplace
Class 365 'Network South East' Livery Pack – Marketplace

Other Requirements

Armstrong Powerhouse Class 43 (Valenta)/Mk3 Enhancement Pack

I have just uploaded a new repaint to the DPSimulation website courtesy of Richard Fletcher.

Depicting the Class 31 number 31107 in Network Rail Black, as featured on Top Gear, this repaint requires both Class 31 packs from Steam in order to work correctly. These can be found here and here.

As well as the requirement of the South London Network, this repaint is also  set up to utilise the sounds from the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 31 Sound Pack (Pro). This sound pack is therefore recommended.

Steam Workshop - 6L36 - 1951 Hoo Junction to Whitemoor Yard

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Difficulty: Medium
Length: 45 Minutes Approx
Start Time: 21:05

Warning

This particular service in real life is booked to cover the 16 or so miles between Wandsworth Road and Lea Junction in around 90 minutes but has been reduced to around 45 minutes for the scenario. It is therefore still slow going. If you prefer a quicker passenger run or dislike the stop/start nature of a realistic freight working, this scenario is probably not for you.

Description

Tonight you are in charge of a loaded ballast working between Hoo Junction and Whitemoor Yard, using a Class 66 locomotive. You will drive the section between Wandsworth Road and Lea Junction via Kensington Olympia.

Briefing

Starting at Wandsworth Road, the service ahead has now cleared the area and you can depart immediately. You will then proceed to Lea Junction via Kensington Olympia. With traffic now winding down, no problems are reported or expected and due to an engineering possession at Caledonian Rd & Barnsbury, you will not be required to wait time there.

Requirements

North London Line with Goblin Line Extension
London to Brighton
Class 66 V2 'EWS' Pack
Class 59/2 'DB Schenker' Pack
Fastline Simulation 'EWS' ZCA Sea Urchins ex VDA Wagon Pack
