Route Building Pack - Coming Soon

Scheduled for late September, the DPSimulation "Route Building Pack 01" is an all new pack which consists of aminimum of 200 assets for use by route builders in freeware routes.

With many new assets that will be of use to both the new and seasoned route builder, the pack has been designed to create a base of assets that can either replace or accompany what is already available for TS2012 and then TS2013. Many of the assets have been designed to make route building easier, and make use of new innovations to achieve this. The pack will include the following, plus much more:-

• New platforms in various styles.
• Station signage, pre-attached to pole assets for easier use.
• Wide array of station based scenery. Shelters, benches, phoneboxes, vending machines, help points etc.
• New catenary, both single asset and track tooled.
• New housing and industrial assets.
• New variations of telegraph poles, both single asset and track tooled.
• New fencing and wall assets, both for rural and urban areas.
• Bespoke trackside signage.

Many of the above assets are also incorporated with a "flexible" asset tool, enabling them to be located on gradients/hills without the need to spend time tilting the asset.

The asset pack will also include TSX enabled lighting where appropriate and seasonal textures.

A small amount of assets available in the pack are featured in the screenshots below. In the screenshot, only the track is not included in the pack.

Downloads - Alternative Links

In response to the current situation whereby certain download links have been unavailable since Wednesday night, I have decided to add an alternative link for each affected download.

The download pages are still set out as normal and once the host has rectified the situation (which I am assured it will be very soon) I will leave the alternative links on the website as a means of security against any further outages.

I can only apologise for this brief period where there has been no access to certain files. Normal service should now be resumed.

This also means that the beta section is now up and running again.

Temporary Unavailability

I have had a few reports this morning that certain download links are unavailable. On investigation, it seems the host are currently migrating the servers and promise that normal service will be resumed very soon.

Thanks for your patience.

Two New Scenarios Released!

I am pleased to announce the release of two new scenarios, both based on the RSC Settle to Carlisle line. The first two of an intended four part series, these scenarios depict a railtour that took place in February 1994 in aid of the Class 40 appeal.

Due to the nature of the sparse traffic that runs over the S&C route, the first two parts are not particularly challenging, but should provide a nice run over the Yorkshire & Cumbrian hills with an English Electric soundtrack.

Both scenarios can be downloaded from the new Settle & Carlisle scenario section which can be found by clicking this link.

Just To Clarify.........

Obviously the forums are absolutely awash with rumours which are in danger of becoming fact, where those who want to believe something will believe it no matter what. So lets quash one rumour now.............

Rumour: The developers either use a different editor for route creation, or developers have special tools that are kept in-house and not released to the general public as part of the Railworks editor.

Answer: Completely false, and it has been stated by staff members of RSC before, many times. Official content is created using the exact same tools that you use on the same live version that you have. Nothing special is held back.

Train Simulator 2013 - Exploding Cats And Other B******s

Yes, it's silly season again with the announcement of the next incarnation of TrainSimulator. Time to watch the forums implode with copious amounts of mis-information from those who really know how to run a successful business, it's even started already within an hour of the announcement. I may even do a twice-weekly blog post with the best rubbish from previous days.

I should really do an alternative FAQ as well.

The update is free, but I dont recieve the routes and trains for free. Won't this mean my cat will spontaneously combust?

Yes, but you don't have to buy them. However, there will be no fleafunds.

For more information on this pack and scenario, follow this link.

Beta Testing - Final Push

Thankyou to all who have applied to be part of the beta testing program so far, I have managed to add a further three or four people to the team. For those who applied and didn't recieve access, I have set up a database with your details and may well be in contact with beta content that is specific to your previous experience.

I still require another two to three testers if possible to become part of the program but really need to put a pre-requisite on these applications. I am looking for, if possible, potential testers who own a lot of DLC content. I am not saying that you should have everything, but a good selection of the most popular addons would be of benefit.

As before, please apply via the contact form on the website which can be found by clicking here.

"South Coast Stock" - Scenario Released!

I have now released a new scenario for the Portsmouth Direct Line entitled "South Coast Stock"

It isn't a particularly testing scenario, but depicts one of the daily ECS movements over the PDL by CrossCountry trains. Initially, it was a personal test scenario following the release of the Voyager "Advanced", however, there was an issue with trains following cold start procedure which has now been patched enabling the scenario to be released.

It can be downloaded from my website by following this link.

TTV 2-Axle Tanks - Now Released!

It is with great pleasure that I can announce the latest wagon pack from the very talented Malcolm Mackay, the TTV 2-Axle tank. This is the first in a planned series of tank based releases from Malcolm to showcase the diversity of this type of wagon.

Another huge thankyou from me to Malcolm for again making a fantastic creation available to all, and for free.

The wagons can be found in the "Rolling Stock" section of my website which can be found by following this link.

Beta Testing - Submissions Welcome

The "Beta Section" of DPSimulation is now active and I am currently on the look out for a small number of new additions to the testing team, to complement those that already do a fantastic job for me.

Testing could involve various elements of content, whether it be new routes, reskins, rolling stock, scenery or scenarios, everything will be covered. And it may not be neccessarily content from DPSimulation, other content creators have expressed interest in submitting content to the program.

If you would like to be involved and have a keen eye for detail and testing things to destruction, use the "Contact Us" section of my website and let me know a bit about yourself and any experience* you have had both in creating and testing on the Railworks platform.

* Experience is not necessary in order to be accepted, however, this is not a vehicle to gain new content before it has been officially released and "show off" to the rest of the community. Anyone found abusing this program will have their access immediately revoked.

UKTrainsim - End Of Involvement

Just a heads up for those that it may concern, mainly those who are possibly waiting for contact from me on UKTrainsim regarding any help I have been giving or any models I may be making for you for various projects.

As of now, I am officially banned for life from UKTrainsim so I cannot possibly contact you on there, or receive private messages via the site. If you need to get in contact with me, do so via this link. I will pass on any uncompleted work done so far and you will have to go it alone I am afraid, I am unwilling to provide any further support.

After initially receiving a 2 week ban last Friday morning, without warning or moderator contact, despite those who consistently make the place utterly unpleasant only receiving lesser punishment or prior warnings, I tried to make contact with UKTS via the email that they provide when you receive a ban. Naturally, this bounces, in fact, I believe it was never even set up which speaks volumes.

After finally getting in contact with the "leader" and after explaining my position on the matter in terms of no access to PM and several community efforts potentially awaiting contact from me, this fell on deaf ears and received an abrupt and particularly rude reply. This means that the website that always claims to be at the forefront of community spirit does not actually give a toss about the community at all, but only where Railworks is involved of course. You can however spout lies, assumption and slanderous comments towards the product and anyone who supports it though, you will be just fine.

The last straw came today when I posted with an old, dormant account I had not used for years if even used at all. I posted a comment, nothing untoward but a comment in order to help a fellow member. This has resulted in a life ban due to duplicate accounts. I do understand that rule completely, but disagreed with the original ban so decided to do it anyway such is the pest that I am.

So, after several years of UKTS involvement which had equal measures of tears and success, in excess of 75 files uploaded with over 80,000 downloads along with the hundreds if not thousands of times I have given help both over the forum and privately to countless members. Much of this work is unsung and you wouldn't know you were driving or looking at something I had created but it all comes to an end because of the hidden agendas that still exist towards certain members, something that has been going on for quite a while and hasn't gone unnoticed for many.

To quote a phrase.........

All are equal, but some are more equal than others

At least I won't have to put up with the depressing cesspit that UKTS has become, I will no doubt be better off without it. Alternatively, it's probably the case that UKTS and it's members will be better off without me as well.
