Steam Workshop - 2L72 - 0830 Clapham Junction to Stratford

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Description

This morning you are in charge of a London Overground service between Clapham Junction and Stratford, using a 5-car Class 378 EMU. You will drive the service in its entirety and call at all stops.

Briefing

Starting at Clapham Junction, first release your doors to allow passengers to board before awaiting your departure time of 08:30. You will then proceed to Stratford, stopping at all stations en-route where you have a scheduled arrival time at your final destination of 09:32.

Notes

After departure from Shepherds Bush just beyond signal VC813 you are required to perform a changeover from third rail to overhead whilst on the move. You should complete this procedure at no more than 25 mph.

When stopping at Caledonian Rd & Barnsbury, it is imperative to stop perfectly on the correct mark. Failure to do so could result in the scenario not being marked as completed.

Steam Workshop - 5L75-5Y75-2Y75 - 1532 Willesden Junction to Clapham Junction

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Difficulty: Hard

Length: 30 Minutes Approx

Description

This afternoon you will be in charge of three workings, 5L75, 5Y75 and 2Y75 which will take you from Willesden TMD to Kensal Green Turnback in order to then form a passenger service from Willesden Junction to Clapham Junction. You will drive the service in its entirety and call at all stops.

Briefing

Starting at Willesden TMD, the late preparation of this unit at the depot means that you are behind schedule and must depart immediately. During the course of the scenario, as well as having to change ends twice, you will also have to perform two power mode changeovers.

Notes

After reversing at Willesden Junction platform 2, you must perform a changeover on the gradient from third rail to overhead. It is tricky to achieve, but if you keep it in notch 2-3 whilst going under the bridge and then lifting the shoes and raising the pantograph quickly so as not to lose all speed, it does work.

After departure from Willesden Junction, just beyond signal VC818 you are required to perform a changeover from overhead to third rail whilst on the move. You should complete this procedure at no more than 25 mph.

Steam Workshop - 5J20-5M20 – 2218 Gospel Oak [GPO] to Willesden TMD

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Difficulty: Easy

Length: 25 Minutes Approx

Start Time: 22:21

Description

Tonight you are in charge of a London Overground empty stock working from Gospel Oak to Willesden TMD using a Class 172 DMU. Formed of two different diagrams, you will first drive 5J20 from Gospel Oak to Upper Holloway before changing ends and running back to Willesden TMD as 5M20.

Briefing

Starting at Gospel Oak, you are currently awaiting your path. Once given a clear signal, proceed to Upper Holloway where you will change ends and then run empty back to Willesden TMD where you be required to change ends once again. As this is a late night service, traffic is fairly sparse and no issues are reported.

Notes

Although not ideal, because of the reversing manoeuvres at both Upper Holloway and Willesden Junction, a driver has been placed in both cabs of the Class 172.

Steam Workshop - 4M71 - 1125 Tilbury RCT to Daventry

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Difficulty: Medium

Length: 35 Minutes Approx

Start Time: 12:03

Description

Today you are in charge of a 'Sugarliner' freight service from Tilbury to Daventry, hauled by a pair of DRS Class 37 locomotives. You are clear to depart immediately and will drive the section from Barking to Camden Road.

Briefing

Starting at Barking, you are clear for an immediate departure. You will then travel on the Goblin Line as far as Woodgrange Park before joining the GEML and finally the North London Line as far as Camden Road, where this scenario will end.

Notes

Unfortunately, this scenario does suffer from 'stretchy coupler' syndrome, meaning that under braking conditions you may feel jolting back and forth. As there is nothing I can do about this, I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the scenario too much.

This scenario is also set in a period when the East London Line extension so no traffic can be seen on the third rail between Dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington.

FGW 'Plymouth - Britain's Ocean City' 43163 Repaint Released

I have just uploaded a new repaint to the DPSimulation website courtesy of Richard Fletcher.

Utilising the recently released Class 43 (MTU)/Mk3 Enhancement Pack, this repaint features a powercar in FGW livery with 'PLYMOUTH - Britain's Ocean City' vinyls, as applied to 43163. 

Both the European Loco & Asset pack from Steam and the Class 43 (MTU)/Mk3 Enhancement Pack are required, otherwise this pack will not work.

Steam Workshop - The Buffer Puffer 11.0 Part 5

I have just released a new scenario on the Steam Workshop.

Difficulty: Medium

Length: 35 Minutes Approx

Warning

As this is a low priority working, the scenario is fairly slow going and you are unlikely to travel long distances in a hurry. If you prefer a quicker run or dislike the stop/start nature of this type of service, this scenario is probably not for you.

Description

This afternoon you are in charge of another leg of the Buffer Puffer 11.0 railtour using a pair of DRS Class 37 locomotives and mk1 coaching stock. You will drive the section from Streatham to East Croydon via Herne Hill.

Briefing

Starting at Streatham, you are currently following a Sutton to Luton service. Once the signal clears, proceed to Herne Hill where you will change ends before heading back to East Croydon via Crystal Palace.

Notes

I have tried to stay faithful to the timings on this leg of the original tour that ran on 25^th January 2014. You will therefore find yourself waiting time at stations along your route. Although 37405 did run on this particular railtour, 37425 has had to substitute for 37610. The timings for the day can be found at http://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/10s/140125pt.htm

The 'Riviera Line in the Fifties' was chosen for the chocolate and cream coaching stock. Although steam heated, they were specifically chosen because the route was part of the TS2016 package and is likely to be owned by more users than any individual DLC that has similar coaches.

The weather setting should have been 'spring' to continue from part one on WCML Trent Valley. Unfortunately, the appearance of the foliage on South London Network has meant I have had to change this leg to summer.
